Random Political Gibberish.......

It seems that few people have a true sense of how parts of the political system work and have worked forever! Well, a couple hundred years, forever-what’s the difference?
I’d like you to think about two of these practices: “Coattails effect”, when a political figure helps others in his party gain political office. For example, when the current president, we will say he is democrat, helps a fellow democrat in Ohio run for Governor by campaigning for him. The other practice often looked down on is called the spoils system, someone takes office and appoints his friends and supporters to various positions.
We hear in the news about Governors making deals, about appointments of campaign supporters and many other so called “scandalous dealings” by today’s political elite. People’s first thought when they hear a political figure is bringing a close friend or avid supporter with them into office or if they try to use their position to help themselves is that it is awful(okay, maybe that’s the second thing we think, first we try to figure out how to pronounce their name- Blagojevich??)
However, this system has been around for a very long time, and why not? It makes sense that a political figure, especially one in a place of extreme pressure and responsibility would want people they can trust and rely on. Often referred to as the Kitchen Cabinet Andrew Jackson asked many of his most trusted friends and relatives, such as Emily and adopted son, Andrew Donelson, to help him and advise him as he governed the country in a strenuous time. What is wrong with that? Why is it proper only if someone brings together people who hate each other, people that don’t even agree with the policies and ideals that, we will say the “president” figuratively, holds as the core of his position and politics? What good does dysfunction and chaos do in leading our country and advising our president?
Unity is vital, as Franklin said “We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately”
Come on, wake up! That was a boring article but it was too short to put you to sleep!:P
